Richard Whitehead is ending his career in the 2017 IPC London World Champs

Richard Whitehead, the Paralympic sprinter, has stated that the perfect stage to end his career would be the one at the 2017 IPC London World Championships.

The 38-year-old, who managed to win a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics in the T42 200m is currently preparing to participate in the Doha World Championships this October before going to the Paralympics in Rio next year.

Whitehead told britishathletics.org that he has London, Rio and Doha, so it is hard to look that far ahead. He added that he does not want to commit to any results, as it is all about taking only one competition at once and hopefully feeling mentally and physically motivated to continue.

Ideally, he wants to finish in London with success, which is whatever this looks like for him at this point. Since London is the capital and it gives him many memories from the Olympics, he will give his friends and family the chance to watch him for the last time.

The star sprinter also has two world gold medals to his name.
