This week Virgin Media crowned me their new accessibility ambassador. This is an accolade I could not be more proud of. Other Virgin Media ambassadors include Olympic legends such as Mo Farah, Usain Bolt and Christine Ohuruogu so to be included alongside these amazing athletes is fantastic and it shows that anyone can live a life without limits.
Having the support of Sir Richard Branson when we announced the run was amazing, so to celebrate all things “Richard” we want to now get as many other Richards as possible to get in touch and either come and see me on the road, make a donation or show their support on Twitter or Facebook. This week I had the pleasure of running alongside 5ive popstar Ritchie Neville – fortunately for him he didn’t have to hear me sing in return – so that’s one Richard ticked off the list and it would be great to get some more of you involved.
So if you are a Richard, Rich, Rick, Richards or even a Richardson, I am calling upon you to go to to make a donation online or by text – or to support me on social media by tweeting @marathonchamp using the hashtag #richruns.

Nottingham Homecoming

Wow! What an experience it was running into my home town last Friday. The feeling I got as I turned the corner into Nottingham town centre was like no other and the home support was phenomenal. To be greeted by the Lord Mayor Merlita Bryan and the Civic Guards at the steps of Nottingham Council House was amazing and then to be able to get out and meet the crowd was a surreal and humbling experience as they are the driving force behind me on this challenge.
After an amazing reception at the Council House, I then popped by to the Virgin Media store in Nottingham. Here I was presented by Virgin Media with an amazing cheque of £30,000 that will go towards two amazing charities, Scope and Sarcoma UK. A massive shout out to all the staff there who held their own “Match the Miles” competition where the 118 staff have already exceeded the target and clocked up 5000 miles. I also had the pleasure of meeting Nerys (4) and Frederick (6) who were the proud winners of the Nottingham stage of Virgin Media’s ‘Simply the Vest’ competition.

On Saturday I got some much needed rest and relaxation and was great to spend the day with my family and much and all as I am loving the wonderful accommodation throughout this journey it was great to sleep in my own bed! Then on Sunday it was back on the road for the Nottingham 5KM family Fun Run. This was something I was looking forward to immensely. I was joined by so many runners which made this one extra special to me as I was surrounded by people from my home town and it was great for me to share this amazing experience with them.
On Monday I said goodbye to Nottingham with a new found energy as a result of the unbelievable support that I received. The support for my challenge is without question, the motivation and inspiration that I need to be able to complete this mammoth task so a massive THANK YOU to everybody involved!
